Description of the project
Niemi Palvelut Oy faced significant challenges in its recycling business due to high material flow and variation in hourly capacity. Separating different materials, such as wood, metal, plastic, cardboard and combustible waste, took a lot of labor time and resources. This process involved a huge amount of staff input, which affected efficiency and throughput of the recycling point. The separation effort not only slowed down operational activities, but also increased costs, creating the need for a more efficient and cost-effective solution.
Thanks to the innovative equipment solution designed by Kapasity, Niemi Palvelut Oy experienced significant practical benefits. By combining and crushing two different waste fraction material streams, the amount of work in separation was greatly reduced, freeing up resources for other activities. This solution not only improved work efficiency, but also multiplied the throughput of the recycling point. The investment in three pallet jacks and the surrounding steel planes allowed for smoother and faster material handling. In addition, automatic screening enabled the recipient to separate the materials from each other more efficiently, which improved the quality of the recycling process and reduced the environmental impact. Overall, the solution brought significant savings and enhanced the recycling activities of Niemi Services.
